This week, we've been exploring how to leverage AI to support our growing back office.
With decades of business administration experience amongst our founders, we have a time-tested selection of go-to tools and techniques we have historically utilised to manage back-office workload.
However, as an AI-native startup, we want to ensure that every part of the organisation is, at the very least, actively exploring how to benefit from the efficiency gains that AI adoption can deliver.
As expected, many of the software products we have been successfully utilising for years are incorporating AI features at pace.
For example, QuickBooks, which we use for accounting, plans to offer conversational insights through its Intuit Intelligence feature, making it possible to query financial data much as you would ask a CFO for an update.
Or Google Workspace, which we use for myriad back office functions, including file storage and management, calendar and online meetings, is rapidly infusing Gemini into every aspect of the platform, enabling a growing range of hitherto manual tasks to be automated with AI.
One example is note-taking during meetings. We’ve habitually recorded the majority of our team meetings for ease of reference since it was introduced some years ago, though now, thanks to the integration with Gemini, we can generate a tidy, searchable Google Doc from the meeting content, making discovery even easier.
As part of our ongoing efforts to understand how to access school data, the subject of last week’s update, we made good use of ChatGPT’s ability to summarise large amounts of data to help us review some of the third-party terms we had to agree to in order to be granted API access.
While it is likely to be some time before such AI-powered capabilities have matured to the point where they can fully substitute a trained professional (in this instance, a qualified lawyer), it continues to be exciting and inspiring to experience the myriad ways AI in its current form can help startups like us save precious time and resources.
We wish you a fantastic weekend.
